What does it mean to be a deliverable person?

To be notifiable means, in practice, that authorities and courts must be able to reach you with important decisions, demands, or summons in a legally recognized way. Notification is thus not "regular mail." It is a formal way to ensure that you have received the information. Once a notification has been made, the process can proceed even if you don't read the letter – and therefore, it is extra important that you are easy to reach.
What is required to be notifiable?
To be considered notifiable, you need to have functioning contact channels that actually work in everyday life. This often means that:
- your address in public registers is correct,
- your mail can be received and handled,
- you or the company has a clear person responsible for reading and acting on notifications.
Common problems arise when people live abroad, travel a lot, change address without updating, or when companies lack a clear recipient. In such cases, notification may be missed – and that can have consequences.
What happens if you are not notifiable?
If authorities cannot reach you, they may, in certain situations, use other notification methods. This can mean that a matter still proceeds. The result can be unnecessary costs, loss of time, growing debt collection/demands, or missing a deadline you needed to act on.
When does this become extra important for companies?
This becomes particularly relevant for:
- foreign owners of Swedish limited companies (AB),
- companies where the board/CEO is not in Sweden,
- companies that want to reduce the risk of missing official mail,
- situations where the Swedish Companies Registration Office (Bolagsverket) or other authorities require a clear solution.
